As we all are preparing or have already prepared for tomorrow’s big celebration of our nations birthday we are all making sure we have our swimsuits ready and our tanning lotions and our stock of burgers franks and beer!!! But what many of us seem to forget the TRUE meaning of the 4th of July!! It’s the day of America’s independence from the ruling of England. Many lost their lives fighting for the freedom that many of us take for granted. So between re-applying that sun block or the flipping of your burgers take a few minutes to appreciate what our founding fathers have given sacrificed and fought for, for our freedoms.
With the wonderfully HOT beach perfect weather that we have been experiencing many of us turn to an ice cold alcoholic beverage to quench or thirst. With it being a National holiday tomorrow I would just like to stress the importance of drinking responsibly!! We all want to have a fun time and enjoy our drinks but no one wants to end up in the hospital or even worse in the morgue all because we had one to many to drink. If you are planning on getting so drunk you know is illegal to drive make sure you have a designated driver with you. Never tell yourself you are “good” to drive because in an instance your whole life can change forever. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a designated driver sorry to say but you should limit your alcohol intake to a minimum.
Last but not least, what is The 4th of July without ……. FIREWORKS!!!!! Yes we all love to stare up in the sky as each firework is lit and sent up to the air for a breath taking array of sparklers fall to the ground in all shapes, colors and designs. If you decide to celebrate the lighting of these beautiful lights at home extreme precautions should be followed. The Consumer Products Safety Commission gives these fireworks safety guidelines for home use:
- Never allow children to play with fireworks
- Read and follow all warnings and instructions
- Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.
- Only light fireworks on a smooth, flat surface away from flammable materials.
- Never try to relight fireworks that have not fully functioned.
- Keep a bucket of water in case of a malfunction or fire.
I always feel it is better to be safe rather than sorry. On that note have an AWESOME 4th OF JULY !!!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!
