Mr. Salon Guy…

Mr. Salon Guy…

So maybe you have see Mr. Salon Guy or better known as Stephen Marinaro floating about at the latest fashion event, or maybe you even had him cut your hair…whatever the case is this name is slowly becoming a household name…

No stranger to the hair world, this vet has been on the scene for 19 years.  So it is pretty refreshing to have someone in the industry talking about something they know about…Stephen is doing something I love and that is bringing blogs to life.  Since Youtube was born, people have been posting videos from fashion to well… how to tie your shoes, but the difference with vlogging as I shall call it, is you allow the “reader” to come into your world.  It may be the behind the scenes footage, a red carpet event or a trip to the local salon…it doesn’t matter…you are allowing that reader to enter your world #1 and #2 most important get an enjoyable experience and BAM…social networking at its best!

So after getting to know Stephen last month…I reached out and wanted to know more about what this brother of the social media wavelengths is really all about…and low and behold and article from The Juice says it all…

TheSalonGuy is the Beauty Industries Newest Entertainment

ResourcePosted on January 31, 2011 by Matt

In 8 short months TheSalonGuy Founder, Stephen Marinaro, went from stylist to industry influencer and is quickly becoming larger than he ever imagined. If you haven’t heard of his name and don’t recognize his logo than you’re not up on the latest in beauty  news. Stephen is at almost every major beauty or fashion event in the Northeast and people everywhere are looking to him to get the word out about their event.

Having been behind the chair for 19 years Stephen decided 8 months ago that he wanted to make a change. Though his love for cutting hair has never diminished he felt he needed to make a more significant impact on his clients and the beauty industry as a whole. With his knowledge of cutting hair, his passion to educate, and the drive to give back to the industry that he loves, Stephen founded TheSalonGuy.  His goal was to create an educational & beauty news platform for salon owners, managers, and stylists. Here they could learn more about their industry and how to become successful in all aspects of a salon.

This initiative started off small with minimal followers and rapidly grew to a network of thousands through Facebook and other beauty relevant social media sites. His growth in last 8 months has been remarkable, so much so that our company, Millennium Salon Software, will be utilizing Stephen at our much anticipated Be-Cause event in March. He has covered recent events like Jerseylicious Season 2 Premiere red carpet Event, the Emiliani Beauty Expo Education Rocks, Five Star Hair Design Fashion Show and Charity Event, the DePasquale Annual Salon Meeting, the Dieci Lifestyle Spa Scratch The Surface Charity Event and Fashion Show, and Seven Bar Foundation Charity Event and Fashion Show.

Make sure to check him out during his upcoming events at Mercedes Fashion Week 2011, IBS NY, and the Millennium Be-Cause Charity Kickoff event.  Below is a word from Stephen that gives you more insight on why he founded TheSalonGuy and what he hopes to accomplish in the future.  Make sure TheSalonGuy is at your next event. Stephen can be reached at stephen@thesalonguy.com.

Stephen Marinaro –

Passion, dedication, commitment and love are just a few of the things that inspire me to keep moving forward to achieve my goals and to give back to the Salon Industry. Who am I you may be asking? My name is Stephen Marinaro, aka “TheSalonGuy”. Yes the name is catchy and that is simply who I am. A Professional Stylist for over 19 years that has decided to share what many may not get the opportunity to see or read about. Throughout your Professional career, you will have different goals, dreams, aspirations and interests based off of what you see, hear and learn. I feel that this is something that has to be continuous or you will lose that ambition. My goal is to bring all of these elements to the Salon Industry by sharing advice, motivation, inspiration and a voice for people to communicate with. How am I doing this? I simply started by recording motivational videos with a small camera in my home discussing various topics from Salon Marketing, How to Price your Services, Salon Standards, Customer Service, How to not work in a Salon that sucks, and various other technical and educational topics. I started posting these videos on YouTube hoping just to get even 1 viewer and to inspire at least 1 person. If I could touch just ONE person I would be happy. It went from 1, to 10, to 100 to thousands of Professionals that have helped me grow to where I am now.  When you have a goal in mind that will purely benefit others through gratitude, sharing and love, it will come back to you 10 times. This was and still is my goal. So where does that bring me now? I have built up a network of thousands of Stylists through the amazing social media sites that have been created just for our Industry and from people following my topics daily on my social media platforms. On average, about 3,000-5,000 people a day view my posts, videos and topics and share their feelings on them. I have had the great pleasure of interviewing Celebrities, Celebrity Stylists, Salon owners, Stylists, Assistants, CEO’s, Executives, Fashion Designers and many more.  I am now offering media services to Salons and Events to create customized video production and photography capturing a message to share with others.  Why am I doing all of this? Simply to share my passion, motivation, inspiration and hope for Salon professionals who are in need of this. The important factor to remember is that numbers are numbers but people are people. I communicate with every person that takes the time to respond to a topic or video I post. I don’t really care that it’s 5 or 5,000, but whoever shows thanks for what I do or takes the time to communicate with me, I am always thanking them in return. That is how you build a brand, business and respect. I invite you to visit my website at http://www.thesalonguy.comto view my videos, topics and be a part of my social network to also share your feelings.  If you wish to have TheSalonGuy and his Team cover and event, create a marketing video or any services we offer, please contact me at stephen@thesalonguy.com . Thank you for your continued support and God Bless.

Wow…Good stuff Stephen…just goes to show how if you push and continue to push even more…anything is possible…but nothing is handed over…you have to get out there and show the industry who you are and what you are all about…

After a phone conversation with Stephen we both agreed…just be YOU…don’t try to be all business savvy up front…yes that’s important but let these people get to know who you are as a person and then trickle your way into the business book…
