The health benefits of X’s and O’s

Bear Hugs
The benefits of a warm embrace can be seen as early as infancy. When a baby cries, we pick them up and hold them close to our bodies until they calm down. It’s the closeness that gives them a sense of comfort and we don’t need fancy research to tell us that. Think about when you wrap your arms around your boyfriend/girlfriend, there’s a feeling attached to it (Even you guys feel something, don’t lie). I know when I hug mine, I get a feeling of warmth from my shoulders to my toes. What I find so incredible about a simple hug is the fact that I could be so incredibly stressed out, but with each hug I’m a little less stressed, a little more relaxed and my mood improves slightly. It’s no doubt that when you’re happy, your body has released endorphins (the happy hormone), which is another benefit to your health.
Research done by the University of North Carolina shows that a simple hug can increase the hormone oxytocin (which is a key factor in orgasms and preventing heart disease) and over time (with continuous hugging) will reduce blood pressure.

♥Want my advice? Start AND end your day with a hug. Hugging is one of my favorite things to do & you could make someone’s day with just a little hug.

Smooches
Pucker up and improve your health at the same time. There is some speculation that regular kissing (more than hello and goodbye) can add some longevity to your life. I don’t think they have any medical science to back this up, but it’s a fun idea to think about. Kissing does count as exercise, but unfortunately it burns less than 5 calories a minute (so start smooching!).  And guys, be forewarned; a girl can tell a lot about a guy & a relationship by his kiss.
A kiss is a very intimate act of affection and can create quite a bond with someone you have feelings for. Your self-esteem gets boosted, endorphins are released, oxytocin is released (which creates a calming effect) and adrenaline is released (which helps your heart in the long-term). With each kiss, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain (unless you’re kissing someone you shouldn’t).

♥Want my advice? I don’t care how old you are (preferably ABOVE the age of 16 so your parents don’t kill me), I don’t care how long you’ve been married/dating/etc…no excuses. Do what I do and kiss AT LEAST 5 times a day, if you can. Don’t go kissing a random person because your significant other isn’t around to fill your daily quota. Or if you do, please don’t blame it on me (haha).
The most important thing is to realize that your relationship is like a garden; if you don’t put in effort or give it attention, it will die and you don’t want that.
